Tempur-Simplicity Mattress By Tempur-Pedic

Tempur-Pedic® Releases the Tempur-Simplicity™ Line of Mattresses!

Long before I entered the world of marketing and advertising, I had an experience with a brand extension that would stay with me throughout my career. I was a young kid working at a mega grocery store in the produce section. But when things got busy up front, I had to help bag and carry out groceries.

I remember one instance where I carried a basket full of stuff out for a sweet senior citizen who was talking about her brand new Cadillac. Now, I was not a big car person, but at that time Cadillac was the luxury brand to have. It was a status symbol, but also a well built vehicle.

When we reached her car, I was confused. It looked like a Chevrolet Cavalier. As I placed the groceries inside, it had plenty of luxury features, but there was no mistake, that was a Cavalier with a Cadillac logo.

In an attempt to capture more market share, and introduce more people to the brand, Cadillac created a cheaper product. There was nothing particularly wrong with the car, it just wasn’t considered a Cadillac according to the average consumer.

Now to the point of this story and how it relates to the mattress industry.

Tempur-Pedic has created an entry level mattress called the Simplicity. There are 3 comfort levels (firm, medium and soft) and they retail at $1499 for the queen size. They come with a 10-year, non-prorated warranty instead of the standard 20 year warranty on their mainline mattresses. You can visit the Tempur-Pedic web site for more details on their construction and features.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Simplicity line. In fact, I applaud Tempur-Pedic for giving consumers an option in a lower price point. Considering the problems inherent with most innerspring mattress – excessive body impressions, motion transfer, improper alignment, its nice to have a quality option under $2000.

I would encourage you to give them a try. Especially if your funds are limited and a Tempur-Pedic Cloud or Contour series bed or higher is not in your budget. A good quality memory foam product is vastly superior to almost any innerspring or other alternative on the market. But remember, comfort is king. Price, manufacturer, quality mean nothing if it is NOT comfortable.

In my professional life, I have always been wary of a well established luxury brand, or high quality brand, creating a lower quality product. In just about every other industry this might be a terrible failure. But it may just work in the mattress world. Innerspring mattress keep going up in price and the quality drops even faster. The public is hungry for a solution that keeps them aligned properly and doesn’t look like Crater Lake after a month of sleeping on it.

Remember, if you do purchase a Simplicity, make sure you get it from a retailer that gives at least a month to test it out and allows an exchange if it is not a good fit. Memory Foam requires a MINIMUM of 30 days to adjust to it. There may be a few uncomfortable nights at first. But if you are committed to give it a fair try, you will never go back to innerspring mattresses.

BTW – I do not work for Tempur-Pedic or own any stock in the company. However, you may see Tempur-Pedic ads on this site – along with many other manufacturers. These are served by Google and I have no control over which ads appear at any given time.

PLEASE NOTE: The Tempur-Pedic Cloud Supreme that I sleep on, or any Tempur-Pedic mattress, may not be the right mattress for you. I do believe that Tempur-Pedic makes some of the best products on the market today. But please do not buy a mattress based on someone else’s experience. You need to try each mattress and determine which one will be the best support and comfort for YOUR BODY.
